24.10.2023Sunnic Lighthouse and Iqony sign third green power contract
ENERPARC subsidiary Sunnic Lighthouse and Iqony are expanding their cooperation: Both parties have recently signed another power purchase agreement (PPA) in a pay-as-forecasted structure.
From Jan. 1, 2024, and until Dec. 31, 2025, Sunnic will supply 9.87 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electricity annually to the Essen-based energy company based on a forecast delivery schedule for the respective following day.
This is the third power supply contract Sunnic has signed with Iqony. The first two, with volumes of 3.3 and 12.6 GWh per year and terms of five and three years, respectively, were signed by the two companies in September 2022 and April 2023.
Arved von Harpe, Managing Director of Sunnic Lighthouse comments: "This third contract signing within about one year reflects the very good and trustful cooperation with Iqony. It also shows that there is an increasing demand for green power, which we can serve in a structured way from the solar portfolio of our parent, ENERPARC AG. We are looking forward to the further projects."
As part of the ENERPARC Group, which is an integrated photovoltaic plant developer that combines all services of the value chain under one roof, Sunnic, as an electricity trader, has direct access to the solar parks as soon as they are connected to the grid. Solar power for this PPA will also be generated from a ENERPARC plant in Wusseken. As a direct marketer, Sunnic is thereby in a position to supply green power to utilities, but also to medium-sized and large corporate customers, in flexibly designed short-, medium- and long-term contract options.
"We are very pleased to be able to further expand our successful cooperation with Sunnic. Together with our partner, we are ensuring a continuous supply of green electricity for our customers and thus supporting them on their way towards climate neutrality," says Dr. Tobias Pfingsten, who is responsible for the Trading division at Iqony.
Iqony's trading division not only manages and markets the Group's generation assets itself. Trading partners and customers can also draw on the know-how and market access of the trading experts. The trading division's services range from asset management to individual trading of green PPAs and guarantees of origin.
