Ardagh Glass Packaging-Europe

Ardagh Glass Packaging-Europe (AGP-Europe), a company belonging to the Ardagh Group, has agreed a long-term PPA with Sunnic Lighthouse. This enables AGP-Europe to purchase green electricity, which the company uses in its NextGen melting tank in Obernkirchen. AGP-Europe previously used around 90% gas and 10% electricity in conventional melting furnaces. In the hybrid NextGen melting furnace, the ratio is now around 60% green electricity and 40% gas. The green electricity supply from Sunnic Lighthouse brings AGP-Europe a big step closer to its goal of switching to 100% renewable energies by 2030.

The newly developed product gives CODAN access to long-term electricity supply contracts, which medium-sized companies in Germany had previously been excluded from. The solar power is generated by photovoltaic systems already in operation at Sunnic's parent company ENERPARC.
