Combination of PPA and full supply: Sunnic Lighthouse supplies CODAN with solar power around the clock
Hamburg, November 7, 2024 - Hamburg-based green energy trader Sunnic Lighthouse is now supplying the global-operating medical technology company CODAN with green electricity from solar parks. The pioneering project combines a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with a full supply, meaning that CODAN will be supplied with green electricity entirely by Sunnic. The newly developed product gives CODAN access to long-term electricity supply contracts, from which medium-sized companies in Germany were previously excluded. The solar power is generated by photovoltaic systems already in operation at Sunnic's parent company ENERPARC.
Jan Knievel, Head of Origination at Sunnic Lighthouse: "The project is absolutely innovative: we are offering CODAN a full supply with stable long-term electricity prices and taking the risks of their fluctuating demand away from them. We look forward to a successful partnership in the coming years, which has already got off to a very good start."
Gela Aragvishvili, Head of Sales at Sunnic Lighthouse: "This project is a particularly good example of the benefits we can offer our customers at Sunnic. With us, they get all services from a single source, have a fixed contact person and one invoice for everything at the end. This is both cost and time efficient."
Andreas Wenig, Plant Manager, and André Feller, Purchasing Manager, CODAN Medizinische Geräte GmbH: "We are delighted to have Sunnic Lighthouse GmbH at our side as a strong partner who will supply us with 100% green electricity in the coming years. As a globally active medical technology company, we at CODAN attach great importance to sustainability and an environmentally friendly energy supply. Sunnic Lighthouse GmbH, which will supply us with clean, renewable electricity from northern Germany in the future, shares our vision of a more climate-friendly future and actively contributes to further reducing our carbon footprint. This collaboration is an important step in our commitment to greater sustainability and demonstrates our commitment to the use of renewable energy. We are proud to be working with such a reliable and forward-thinking partner and look forward to a successful, sustainable partnership."
The contract has a term of five years and includes an option to extend for a further five years. CODAN's total electricity requirements amount to 8.8 GWh, of which 5.3 GWh is supplied via the PPA. The remaining electricity is covered by a residual supply. The ENERPARC photovoltaic plant in Eggebek, Schleswig-Holstein supplies the solar power for this project with an output of 5.4 MW.
