Combination of PPA and full supply: Sunnic Lighthouse supplies CODAN with solar power around the clock

Hamburg, November 7, 2024 – Hamburg-based green electricity trader Sunnic Lighthouse is now supplying global medical technology company CODAN with green electricity from solar parks. This pioneering project combines a power purchase agreement (PPA) with a full supply contract, meaning that CODAN is now entirely supplied with green electricity by Sunnic. With this newly developed product, CODAN gains access to long-term electricity supply contracts, from which medium-sized companies in Germany have previously been excluded. The solar power is generated by photovoltaic systems already in operation at Sunnic's parent company ENERPARC.

Jan Knievel, Head of Origination at Sunnic Lighthouse: "The project is absolutely innovative: we offer CODAN a full supply with long-term stable electricity prices and take the risk of fluctuations in demand off their hands. We look forward to a successful partnership in the coming years, which has already got off to a very good start."

Gela Aragvishvili, Head of Sales at Sunnic Lighthouse: "This project is a particularly good example of the advantages we can offer our customers at Sunnic. With us, they get all services from a single source, have a dedicated contact person, and ultimately receive one invoice for everything. This is both cost- and time-efficient."

Andreas Wenig, Plant Manager, and André Feller, Purchasing Manager, CODAN Medizinische Geräte GmbH: "We are very pleased to have Sunnic Lighthouse GmbH as a strong partner at our side, who will supply us with 100% green electricity in the coming years. As a global medical technology company, we at CODAN attach great importance to sustainability and an environmentally friendly energy supply. Sunnic Lighthouse GmbH, which will supply us with clean, renewable electricity from northern Germany in the future, shares our vision of a more climate-friendly future and is actively contributing to further reducing our carbon footprint. This collaboration is an important step in our commitment to greater sustainability and demonstrates our dedication to the use of renewable energies. We are proud to be working with such a reliable and forward-looking partner and look forward to a successful, sustainable partnership."

The contract has a term of five years and includes an option to extend for a further five years. CODAN's total electricity requirement is 8.8 GWh, of which 5.3 GWh will be supplied via the PPA. The remaining electricity will be covered by a residual supply. The ENERPARC photovoltaic plant in Eggebek, Schleswig-Holstein, with a capacity of 5.4 MW, supplies the solar power for this project.
