ENERPARC subsidiary Sunnic Lighthouse and Axpo conclude second green PPA

Axpo and Sunnic Lighthouse GmbH, the electricity trading subsidiary of solar park developer ENERPARC AG, have signed another power purchase agreement (PPA). Starting October 1, 2023, Sunnic Lighthouse will supply Axpo with 38.4 GWh of solar power per year. This volume covers the electricity needs of around 7,500 households per year and saves more than 22,000 tons of CO2 emissions compared to fossil fuels.

Sunnic Lighthouse will provide the electricity in a so-called "pay-as-forecasted" structure, i.e., based on a forecast delivery schedule for the following day. The solar power comes from a portfolio of several solar plants already connected to the grid by the parent company ENERPARC, with a total capacity of 39.8 MWp. The PPA will initially run until December 31, 2027.

Axpo Germany Managing Director Johannes Pretel: "The successful negotiation of this second contract is proof of the trusting partnership between the two companies. We were once again able to conclude the PPA smoothly and without complications. With Sunnic as a reliable partner on board, we look forward to further agreements that will help us drive forward the energy transition."

Axpo and Sunnic already signed a contract in April last year for the marketing of the Büttel photovoltaic plant, which runs until 2032. This includes the purchase of around 35 GWh of solar power per year.

Arved von Harpe, Managing Director of Sunnic Lighthouse: "As a flexible electricity trading company, we can offer our customers electricity supply contracts tailored to their requirements. In addition to long-term PPAs, we can also offer medium-term PPAs for portfolios already connected to the grid with a wide variety of structures, such as: Pay as Forecasted – as is now the case with the PPA with Axpo – up to annual hourly profiles or monthly band deliveries. Our motivation is to negotiate a contract with experienced and professional partners such as Axpo that satisfies both sides. We look forward to continuing our cooperation."
