PV partnership enters next round: Sunnic Lighthouse and GEWI conclude ninth PPA

Hamburg/Hannover. Right at the start of the year, ENERPARC subsidiary Sunnic Lighthouse and GETEC ENERGIE subsidiary GEWI had some good news to share: they'd just signed their ninth solar power PPA together. This brings the total contract volume for both green electricity marketers to 277 MWp.

GEWI and Sunnic Lighthouse are continuing their successful collaboration in the area of power purchase agreements (PPA). At the beginning of 2024, the two North German direct marketers signed their ninth joint photovoltaic PPA. All nine contracts are agreed as “pay-as-produced” and have a term of one to four years. All contracted PV systems will supply a total of 249 GWh this year. This corresponds to the electricity needs of more than 71,000 households. The solar power is generated by photovoltaic systems already in operation by Sunnic's parent company ENERPARC.

Arved von Harpe, Managing Director of Sunnic Lighthouse: “With our solar power portfolio of 2,800 MW, we are now the third-largest marketer in Germany. This enables us to offer a wide variety of contract constellations – including short-term contracts such as the PPA with GEWI. We are delighted with the very cooperative partnership and look forward to further joint projects.”

GEWI then supplies the solar power to its customers via its parent company GETEC ENERGIE. These customers include Union Investment and Vodafone, as well as many medium-sized commercial and industrial companies. PPAs are the preferred form of procurement for companies that have ambitious sustainability goals and want to present their efforts in this area in a transparent and credible manner. PPAs make it possible to clearly trace the green electricity procured back to the specific wind or PV plants.

“We are delighted that we have been able to expand our joint PV portfolio with Sunnic to 277 MWp,” says Patrick Notzon, Managing Director of GEWI GmbH, commenting on the collaboration with the Hamburg-based energy service provider. “We are continuously working to tap into more and more sources of solar power so that we can continue to meet the explicit demand for PV PPAs from electricity consumers,” Notzon continues.
