Hamburg / Duisburg, 04.02.2026 – thyssenkrupp Steel and Sunnic Lighthouse, an electricity marketer and subsidiary of ENERPARC AG, have signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for the supply of solar power. The agreement covers a capacity of 67 megawatts peak. Thyssenkrupp Steel will purchase the electricity from nine ENERPARC solar plants in Germany, which will supply the industrial company exclusively.
Under the PPA, Sunnic Lighthouse will take over the structured supply of solar power, including forecasting and schedule management for electricity delivery. For thyssenkrupp Steel, the agreement means a transparent and predictable supply of renewable electricity from German solar parks.
By concluding the PPA, both companies are opting for a pragmatic solution in what is currently a challenging energy policy environment. While the industrial electricity price is currently being finalized, the PPA shows that market-based models can offer short-term, implementable, and competitive alternatives or supplements for industry.
“Especially in times of complex debates about government intervention and price caps, industry needs one thing above all else: reliable and simple solutions that can be concluded today,” says Arved von Harpe, Managing Director of Sunnic Lighthouse. "PPAs from renewable energies provide affordable electricity without government subsidies. The fact that one of Germany's largest industrial companies has opted for this model shows that PPAs remain an attractive option for electricity procurement – even for our energy-intensive economy.“
Dennis Becher, Head of Energy Management at thyssenkrupp Steel, adds: ”We are delighted to be working with Sunnic, as this will help us advance our transformation towards lower-carbon production. PPAs are an important component of our energy strategy."
